My topic of intensive project is about "The Becoming Extinction of the Tradition Carving Art". As technology advances, there are some traditional carving art is going to become extinction soon. For example the carving art of Mahjong and minibus's white plates.
I will have two short individual interviews with two carving artisans, they was working in this field more than forty to fifty years. Before the interview, I have done some research about the history and production of mahjong and white plates.
Firstly, the minibus's representation are the white plates that sit on the window in front of the mini bus. Generally the plates display the location and passengers fare to the bus's destination. It is consisted of words hand written with colours and carving into the plate. Mr Mak Kam-Shing is the only artisan that is still working in this industry today.

On the other hand, the carving art of mahjong has been popular between the 70s and 90s century. Mahjong used to produce hand written with colours and carving as well. After the online video game version appeared in the market, the mahjong production has become mechanising. It is already starting to become one of the declining industries as well.
Both of these traditional carving art are facing the extinction problem, because of the technology advance and with no one to inherit this type category within the industry. Therefore, my study will discover the culture declining of traditional carving art.
