Animation process – character design
For the Animation process, I had acquired the
help of my sister who is skilled in drawing. In early June, we had our own
animation production meeting and came up with the 1st sketches for
the animation. We then proceed to scan all the sketches into the computer and
recreate then in adobe illustrator. We found that it was extremely inconvenient
and time consuming to use a mouse to draw on the computer. We overcame this
problem by borrowing a Intuos Wacom pen tablet from friend and we were able to
better progress with the animation. We later moved from adobe illustration to
Photoshop as though illustrator created better quality graphics from the
sketches, Photoshop had a timeline function that we found to be suitable for
the needs of the animation. Altogether there are 3 animated characters that
represent an avatar from the online virtual social media platform.
The first is Pink. Designed as a lovable
huggable pillow with cat ears and a tail that ends with a heart shape tip. It
is designed with an innocent smile and blank stare
Red is a corrupted version of pink with its
darker colours and more sinister smile. The cat ears from when he was pink
become dark pointed horn-like structures and its teeth become sharper and it
gains claws for hands and hollow eyes.
