"Reader's Digest" have done a courtesy test in 36 cities. The three test items included whether they would open the door for the trailing trader, whether the salesman said "thank you" when dealing with small transactions, and whether someone would pick up the documents on the busy streets for others. Undercover investigators do 20 times in each test.
Hong Kong has scored only 45% of the total test scores in the three tests, which is lower than the global average score of 54.4%, showing that Hong Kong people are politely unqualified. Tourism Council Chairman Wu said the the scores of polite test should be independent of Mainland free-lane travelers. He believes that people who do not pick up the documents is not a measure standard of courtesy, but also believe that Hong Kong children grow up in parents over-indulgence, indeed they become more self-deprecating and rude than the previous generation.
Mr Cheung, a L.S teacher, also agrees that the emergence of Hong Kong children is related to the politeness of Hong Kong. They are always take care from other may lead them less care for others.
