Blog 9 – Post production editing
The software used to
edit the film was Adobe Premiere Pro. There was a brief attempt to use Affect
Effects in hope that it would create better cinema grade like quality however,
due to the unfamiliarity of the program and time constraints to learn how to use
the program, it was decided against using it in the end. The most
time-consuming part of the editing process was my attempt at rotoscoping in the
scene where the main character looks out of a window and sees space. Though it
is quite a short clip, going through each individual frame in order to adjust
the masking was challenging. Also, being the sequel to a previous film has also given extra importance on the continuity. Some graphical elements were reused from the prequel to show consistency between the two short films.
Another drawback faced was the extreme difference in lighting between the well-lit tunnel and the park at night. And to counter this problem, the colour correction on Adobe premiere pro for the bright scenes while the lighting adjustment effect was used for scenes that were too dark.
