Synopsis:
Very Fantastic (Hong Kong/ 2002/
Col /No dialogue and subtitles/ 07' 50" ) includes good ghosts and strange
Hong Kong pre-war building. Through representing the odd special effect of Hong
Kong streets and Chinese 9 square calligraphy paper, to show how "very fantastic" of the Hong Kong
pre-war building and how importance to reserve Hong Kong own culture to be our
heritage.
Devote Very Fantastic to my
dearest dad, ma and grandma.
The story:
A young girl’s job was toilet cleaner in old Chinese
tenement and had to carry excreta around. It was like a long journey for her
daily work: she walked through the stairs, corridors, bridges in building,
pawnshops, barber shops and other old local stores. When the day ended, she returned
to home. During this period, the surrounding developed a lot, the old tenement
became skyscrapers and she became an old lady. The only thing that she got all
the time is the buckets and her a spirit tablet.
Flow of the video:
Starts with an overall picture of the city, what the girl
did before work, then show what kind of buildings/ surrounding the girl passed
by when she walked to work, toilet cleaning, what to do after work, way to head
home to show surrounding, development of surrounding, becoming old lady.
