I not use all the shooting photos , but I think I pick up these photo to submit it more close to the topic . These topic I inspired from lot of art work and discus with few people . And I think for this generation this is a very important topic to us , In the news it showed us when we to focus and implicitly in the phone it might have some bad things happened , I think tell we shouldn't use phone a lot but I think we should use phone in the right time and right place , because when we look up it can see more than the phone , And we can find or relationship with people and things . Maybe lot of artwork were irony to people how they implicit in the phone , but I don't want to irony that , my topic it just want people to think when they with the phone too much what they missed .

I finished all my shooting so let talk about my editing in my photos . Before the shooting I planed to use the instax to make my idea to be the special one . But in the end when I editing I changed my mind , I want to use the colour and vignette the make my photos to be special , Also I still keep using Duane Michals ideas to told my photos story , when you look closer what you can see , one photo have one meaning but when we look together we can see what I want to tell to people .

Have one parts photo I not using any editing , because , I want to show the natural light and the photos because I think if I edit maybe be cover the photos so I think maybe I should try too not to do anything in the photos .

Other special location was in the star Ferry Pier ,  actually I not preparation to take photos in Pier , I just want to by ferry to go to Tsim Sha Tsui to took photos but I think I saw a really great screen so I took it in Pier , when I am waiting the ferry , I saw a couple siting together actually it very normal but when the girl talking to her boyfriend and her boyfriend just focus in the phone I think it really can show my topic , when people using their phone can how focus and missed near to them , and the special not just that , also near with the couple have a father and son they were watching the Victoria Harbour it very compared so I took it and I think that is my best meaningful photos in these topic .

In this shooting I took lot of photos in the street , but I have 2 locations impressive a lot , I took Apple Store photo in the bridge . Lot of traveler take the same pictures as I do , But I think we have different meaning , when they take the photo they see how big in the store and how many people shopping in the store , but I'm focus on how many people stay in the store stairs to looking their phone so focus . In the opposite side I saw the Apple Store design are very attractive people to watching but when we closer we can see have lot of people sit in the store and stay to playing or looking their phone I think it not very usual see this pictures in other places but it really really can see in Hong Kong .

I have big news to my topic , recently Pokemon Go finally can downloaded in Hong Kong , that let lot of people taking their phone in the street , that really match to my topic , and have more meaning such as social media not the only reason why people so implicitly of " Facebook "             " Instagram " " Twitter " even game can make people crazy into the screens . So I would like to add one more idea in my photo topic .

This game it really easy to take picture in everywhere to see people looking the screens to catching the " Pokemon " and not just one group people , it really easy to catch pack people staying in some location place to looking in their screens . They are so focus even they walking with friends or talking with people . I think I'm so lucky can catch the moment and put this into my topic .

For the last blog I reminded I cannot find much people to help me to my shooting but I think I still very lucky I can find one of my friend to be my model to take pictures and I feel very happy because we can discuss together and she can give me some opinion of my topic . It make me don't need to take pictures to  stranger in street or just random to find my target . For me I not usually take pictures with people or find a models in front my camera and tell her what I want her to do so this is a new experience to me . And I feel so excited just need to spend more time to talk to her and let her to poss what I want to but in my topic I feel like it more easier to find a model to be with me .

About the location , Dino suggest me my photo should more close to life so I'm thinking of few location . which location can more show the life style and which location have lot of people using phone when they stay there , I think few location about restaurant , school , street , but in restaurant and school , need to find 3-4 or more people to help me to pretended unlucky I can't find  that much people to help me so I give up restaurant and school , so I choose lot of location in street but when I take pictures in street I can make my photo more natural than I like it . I wrote in Blog 1 I want my photos style can more like Duane Michals can tell the story in every picture to contact it , but he create it and not that natural to me , But now I still keep use each picture to contact other picture to tell story but I feel like more natural .

I'm thinking of my topic , At first , I want to take pictures about when people go to somewhere special or beautiful location they just want to use the screen to watch the view but not use  eyes to watch it . For now , people depend on phone very much , like the phone are everything for them and cannot leave the phone because social media effect a lot .  But Dino suggest me I can take the picture more close to life , than I don't need  to find these special location , I can take people using phone when they eating dinner or in class to watch phone but not listen to teacher . these scenes are happen everyday for people .These can make people  more easily to understand my topic and attract them to my photo because it telling the story about their life for everyday

I met some problem when I edit my video. And today I will explain these problem.

The first problem I met was the volume of my video is not enough. And I need to tune it but it is not fix very well because the environment when I shot the video is quite noisy. If I tune the volume of my video, the sounds of the environment will also become louder. It will make the replied of my interviewee become very unclear. So if I shot this kinds of video next time, I will fix this problem with a external mic recorder.

The next problem I met was the subtitles. It is because I need to translate all the content of interview into English. Some replies of the interviewee is hard to translate. Also how to make the subtitles with Adobe Premier is also a hard task for me. I never try this so I need to learn it from my classmates and internet to solve this problem. So it cost me lots of time to fix this problem.

Types of Documentary

There are 6 types of documentary. They are Poetic Documentaries, Expository Documentaries, Observational Documentaries, Participatory Documentaries, Reflexive Documentaries and Performative Documentaries. And I will explain what they are.

Poetic Documentaries aims to create an impression or a mood rather than argue a point. They focus on experiences, images and showing the audience the world through a different set of eyes. The goal of this type of Documentaries is to create a feeling to audience.

Expository Documentaries speak directly to the viewer. It is always heavily researched and aims to educate and explain things. It is opposite to Poetic Documentaries.

Observational Documentaries are simply and spontaneously observe lived life with a minimum of intervention. The style of this type is to give voice to all sides of an issue by giving audiences first hand access to some of the subject’s most important moments.

Participatory Documentaries include the elements of Observational and Expository. It aims for immediacy and often presents the filmmaker’s point of view.

Reflexive Documentaries aims to draw the viewer attention to the filmmaker own constructedness. It always wants to challenge the assumptions and expectations about the form itself.

Performative documentaries is to promote the subjective experience and emotional response to the world. It is strongly personal, unconventional and might include hypothetical enactments. It is the direct opposite of the observational Documentaries.

Behind the scenes of my documentary

I finished my street interview at the UNC centre on 26-7-2016. And here are some difficulties I have met.

For the first difficulty, I find some interviewee will reject my interview because of they don"t want to appear in my video. When the interviewee know that they are not just need to finish the interview but they need to show their face and appear in my video, most of them reject the interview at once and just one interviewee accept this but I only can record his voice. So a footage of my video will do not show up the face of the interviewee but only his sound recording.

And the second difficulty is the voice recording, because of the environment of the interview is not much quiet, and the interviewees are also speak softly. So the sound of my video may not very clear.
Unfortunately, I find out this problem when I am editing the video so I can't fix it well at last.

The last part of the video editing is subtitle. A application call ‘Subtitle Editor’ used to edit subtitles.

This software is easy to use. I need to translate the subtitle from Chinese to English. This soft can combine two subtitles without any bug and crash. It has several option for me to edit the subtitle such as font size, text font, outer line, font color. This is the final section of the video.

The final product processed as mp4 file and the resolution is 1280 x 720. The file size around 500MB. I think the hardest part of making the video is subtitle editing. All the subtitle should be in the right position and right for the mouth movement. It takes me over 5 hours to finish the editing.

During my shooting section, I find out some problems that I need to solve it. First of those problem is shooting part, I need to find a model or a camera man to help me to talk a photo, because all of those photo is talking about social media, so I need a man to be a model or take the photo.

Second for the editing section, the hard part for me is I need to find a social media layout by myself to add into my photo, and I can not find a template in the internet, so I planned to use Adobe illustrator to make the layout of social media.

Third part also is the editing section. When I edit the photo that I took before I find a problem that, those photo are not wide enough, there are no space to let me put the social media layout in the photo.
